A creative solution in 72 hours

L'Enfant Bleu is a helpline for children who face abuse from parents, relatives, or other responsible adults.

Our task was to increase the number of reach-outs but do it quietly, so children could ask for help without fearing consequences.

We talked to teenagers and heard their stories.

The problem isn’t that children don’t want to ask for help

They never know what they’re experiencing at home is abuse.

So we decided to split communication into two steps:

Explain firstly what abuse is, in a language kids understand.

Then show where and how they can ask for help.

A quiet way to ask for help.

To make asking for help safe, we created a silent chat. It doesn’t store message history and is less likely to be overheard.

Where the communication lived

We used social media and created a friendly character for kids aged 10–17. Speaking their language and appearing where they already are —
social media, playgrounds, football fields.
